Adam AI vs n8n and DIY automation
You cannot run a business in a workflow automation platform. Workflows are one component of what a company needs; n8n, Make and Zapier do that component well when someone is willing to build and babysit the flows. Adam AI is the whole operating layer: a digital workforce with judgement, the identity, registry, budgets, guardrails and knowledge around it, and an operator who stands behind it.
Ownership
Runs on hardware you own, data never leaves the building
Positional agents
Every agent holds one role with bounded access. No master agent, small blast radius
Control plane included
Registry, identity, budgets, guardrails and traces in the platform licence
Guaranteed results
It works in 90 days or you don’t pay

Four reasons companies pick Adam AI over n8n and DIY automation
A workflow is a component, not a company
Payroll, collections, service, sales and compliance need people, policy, memory, permissions and an audit trail around every automation. Adam AI ships all of it; a workflow tool ships the arrows.
Agents with judgement
Workflows break on the first exception. Positional agents handle the case, follow policy and escalate when they should.
An operator stands behind it
The same stack runs the IT services business Adam AI came from and its clients, with an owner for every agent and a guarantee on the first 90 days.
Governance you do not have to build
Registry, identity, budgets, guardrails and traces come with the licence.
It gets better on its own
Wingman and Harness Lab refine agents from real outcomes; flows only change when someone remembers to edit them.
Straight answers
Can’t we just run the business on n8n?
You can automate steps on n8n. You cannot run a business on it, because workflows are one component of five or six a company needs: knowledge, identity and permissions, budgets, guardrails, evaluation and audit, and people with judgement in the loop. Adam AI is built as that whole layer; n8n is a very good piece inside it.
We already use n8n. Do we have to stop?
No. Adam agents can call your existing flows through the broker, and the Agent Registry can list them so they have an owner and an audit trail.
Isn’t DIY much cheaper?
The licence is. The staff time to build, fix and secure hundreds of flows usually is not, and nobody guarantees the result. Our bands include build, security updates and support.
What happens when a flow meets an exception?
A workflow stops or does the wrong thing. A positional agent recognises the exception, applies policy and hands it to a named person.
Can we build our own agents on Adam AI?
Yes. My Builds lets staff log ideas; the analyst asks questions, proposes from existing agents and skills, and nothing goes live without a shadow run and approvals.
We mark n8n and DIY automation with a tick wherever it does the job. Details come from public documentation and pricing as of October 2026; if something has changed, tell us and we will correct it. n8n is a fine tool for teams with an engineer who enjoys owning integrations, and we use it ourselves for glue.
Stop renting intelligence. Own it.
